Building Assessor Capability

Last week, Accessable welcomed more than 35 Assessors to our latest New Assessor Orientation and EMS Framework workshop.

As the Ministry's EMS provider, we believe that investing in Assessor capability is critical to ensuring consistent decision-making, effective service delivery, and positive outcomes for disabled people and their whānau. Led by our Professional Advisory Team, the workshop provided practical guidance on the EMS funding framework, contract requirements, service pathways, and the roles we each play in supporting clients.

Through real-life examples and open discussion, Assessors were able to deepen their knowledge and explore the complexities involved in balancing clinical recommendations, client needs, funding criteria, and service requirements. Assessors also had the opportunity to experience Accessable's operations firsthand, including our warehouse, workshop, and service delivery teams.

Seeing the end-to-end journey provides valuable insight into the many people, processes, and partnerships involved in delivering EMS services.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with Assessors highlighting the practical nature of the workshop and the opportunity to gain a broader perspective of how EMS services are delivered.

A big thank you to our Professional Advisory Team for their ongoing commitment to Assessor education and for delivering another successful orientation programme.
