Accessable is an essential service for the provision of services to the disabled and injured community and we continue to be in constant contact with both the MOH and ACC to align the services provided with the restrictions applied at all Alert levels in response to Covid-19. We have remained operational at all Alert Levels throughout the response to Covid-19, supporting the ability of all New Zealanders to live safely in their home.

With Auckland region now in Alert Level 3 it has been necessary to implement some restrictions on the equipment, and housing and vehicle modification services within Auckland. These restrictions will be in place until there is a decision to move to a lower Alert Level. All other parts of New Zealand will receive service delivery with only limited change, due to being in Alert level 2.

In principle, where a client’s need is deemed essential and the client has requested that we proceed, we are able to continue with the delivery of the service.  Please be reassured in these circumstances, our team of staff, suppliers, and contractors will continue to minimise contact, carry out contact tracing and will continue to use appropriate PPE and ways of working to keep our clients and each other safe.

Principles underpinning the definition of essential services as defined by MOH include:

  • Keep people at home living safely
  • Keep people out of hospital where we can
  • Where possible get people home from hospital quickly
  • Respond to crisis / urgent / acute physical and mental health needs
  • Assist in avoiding harm to people's mental well-being.

Where a need is deemed as non-essential, it may be possible to continue to supply equipment or complete/commence housing modifications. However, these situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis and will only occur if we can be sure that all risks have been managed appropriately.  The exception to this is vehicle modifications that will be deferred until we move to a lower alert level

Repairs to equipment can continue at Level 3 if they are able to be carried out safely.

Outside of Auckland, we are able to provide our full range of services , but will be ensuring that our team of suppliers, couriers and contractors will continue to minimise contact, carry out contact tracing and will continue to use appropriate PPE and ways of working to keep our clients and each other safe.

While we are able to provide all services at Alert level 2, we recognise that this is a very stressful time and ultimately the final decision to proceed with our service lies with our clients, so will happily reschedule as required.
